ELECTRON AND HOLE g FACTOR ANISOTROPY IN CdTe/CdMgTe QUANTUM WELLS

چکیده

Effective g factors of electrons and heavy holes in CdTe/CdMgTe quantum wells have been measured with high accuracy as a function of the angle between the magnetic field and the structure growth axis. As a result, we have observed the electron g factor anisotropy in A,B6-based heterostructures. The dependences of the g factor tensor components on the quantum-well width and the solid solution composition have been calculated within the k.p method and compared with the available experimental data.

12xMg xTe single quantum wells

We report resonant spin-flip Raman scattering measurements in CdTe/Cd12xMg xTe single quantum wells with x50.15, 0.26, and 0.5 as well as in Cd12xMg xTe alloys with x50, 0.15, and 0.5. Effective g factors of electrons and heavy holes are measured as a function of the quantum well width (182100 Å! and the angle of the magnetic field with respect to the growth axis. The electron g factors in quan...

Electron and hole states in quantum dot quantum wells within a spherical eight-band model

In order to study heterostructures composed both of materials with strongly different parameters and of materials with narrow band gaps, we have developed an approach @E. P. Pokatilov et al., Phys. Using this method, electron and hole s...

Interaction of an electron gas with photoexcited electron-hole pairs in modulation-doped GaAs and CdTe quantum wells

The nature of the correlated electron gas and its response to photo-injected electronhole pairs in nominally undoped and modulation-doped multiple quantum-well (MQW) structures was studied by experiment and theory, revealing a new type of optically-active excitation, magnetoplasmons bound to a mobile valence hole. These excitations are blueshifted from the corresponding transition of the isolat...

Phase transitions in two tunnel-coupled HgTe quantum wells: Bilayer graphene analogy and beyond

HgTe quantum wells possess remarkable physical properties as for instance the quantum spin Hall state and the "single-valley" analog of graphene, depending on their layer thicknesses and barrier composition. However, double HgTe quantum wells yet contain more fascinating and still unrevealed features. Here we report on the study of the quantum phase transitions in tunnel-coupled HgTe layers sep...
